Frequently Asked Questions

PDF/A is an ISO-standardized version of PDF designed for long-term digital preservation. Many government agencies, courts, and organizations require PDF/A for official document submissions.

PDF/A-2b is the most commonly accepted standard and works for most use cases. PDF/A-1b is stricter and may be required by some organizations. PDF/A-3b allows embedded attachments.

The visual appearance stays the same. The conversion embeds fonts, removes transparency (for PDF/A-1b), and ensures all resources are self-contained within the file.

PDF/A files are valid PDFs and can be opened in any PDF reader. There is typically no need to convert back, as PDF/A is a superset of PDF with additional constraints.
